Ikea Godmorgon washbasin cabinet conversion

Hello everyone,

I have a washbasin that is 60cm wide – unfortunately, only 42 cm deep. Now I would like to buy this base cabinet here:

Godmorgon / Odensvik
Washbasin cabinet/2 drawers, white

Does anyone know if it is somehow possible to manually shorten it in depth by 10cm? I have the craftsmanship skills. However, I don’t know if this would also involve touching the metal drawer slides...

Can anyone help?

Hi Johnyy,

the problem will be the siphon and/or the connections.

Behind the lower drawer, you only have 10 cm of space with the GODMORGEN in 100 cm width. If you shorten the cabinet on the sides, which is basically easy, then nothing is allowed to be in that area anymore, no drain, no angle valve, nothing.
The drawer above is shorter, but you won’t be able to avoid a rebuild there.

Last week I rebuilt my 100cm GODMORGON because I didn’t want to install the IKEA siphon with the low-quality looking drain sheet, but rather a push-to-open drain fitting. All in all, I got so deep with the overflow connection that I had to rebuild.
