Hello,

I have an Expedit shelf (4x4) and would like to "raise" it a bit.

To explain: The Expedit shelf only fits in a corner in my apartment due to the living space. Unfortunately, there is a light switch with an outlet installed there. The problem is, the light switch is exactly at the height of one of the horizontal bars. If I could raise the shelf a bit, the switch and outlet would be exactly within one of the squares. That would be an acceptable solution for me.

What would be the best way to achieve this? I know there are casters, but I actually don’t want the shelf to be movable, as I don’t want it to roll away somehow when it’s loaded. According to the internet, the Capita feet aren’t suitable either, since you can’t really screw anything into the shelf due to the material. What other options would I have?

A very simple and inexpensive option would be if you get some nice sand-lime bricks or similar and place them underneath. The stones could also be covered. Of course, it depends on the overall furnishings whether that fits.

Or ask for the same floor in the bargain corner and put the one underneath. But don't try to build feet underneath. Since these are honeycomb panels, you won't get the feet fixed.

It does work :) I have put all my Expedit units on 16mm Capita feet, so far none of them have fallen off or come loose, which doesn't mean it will always work. But it's worth trying.

Just noticed: The Lillangen base frame comes in different sizes, that could also be a solution.

If the furniture feet have a sufficient contact surface, they could also be fixed with assembly adhesive or another good adhesive.

However, even a one-sided load with a (too) heavy object is enough here and the foot breaks in! ;)
Therefore, I would strongly advise against fastening with screws.
