I wanted to install a bar top with these Capita brackets. Unfortunately, that won’t work, because in this way the bar top becomes too high and the brackets are not adjustable in height or available in different heights.

With the above brackets, the bar top height is 116 cm, which is clearly too high. Ideally, there should be a distance of 25 - 30 cm between the seat height and the bar top surface, but here I have an uncomfortable 42 cm.

Where can I find a solution that allows me a distance from the countertop to the underside of the bar top of about 7 to max. 10 cm? I am just as grateful for DIY ideas as for suggestions/links to any offers (they just shouldn’t be from Bulthaup, my wallet can’t handle that...)

Hello schrauberine
just a suggestion: you could use Capita legs (length doesn't matter) that can be shortened in height. You pull off the lower part (Standfläche) and cut it to the desired size with a metal saw, then put it back on - done!

PS: I only did this myself recently

I had already thought about something like that - but how do you attach the lower part to the countertop? There is only a plastic cap at the bottom. The bar top must be securely fastened. Do you perhaps have a picture of your solution?

yes, think about it!

I have chrome-plated legs from a hardware store that still have a threaded hole on the base surface, maybe a hole with a threaded rod and a counter nut could go through the worktop

I have now solved the problem creatively:

Four beech wood sections each 8 cm high fitted with threaded bolts, then screwed to the countertop (like the Capita brackets). Looks good and matches the other sparingly used wooden elements in the kitchen.

Ikea should offer the Capita brackets in different heights. The current size is actually only usable with quite a low countertop height.
