We want to buy the IKEA Backabro sofa with chaise lounge. There are two covers in beige:

Tygelsjö beige for €599:
Risane natur for €799:

The only difference seems to be in the upholstery fabric:

Cover for sofa bed with chaise lounge:
Tygelsjö: Total composition: 65% polyester, 35% cotton
Risane: Total composition: 53% linen, 47% viscose

My question:
How does the different composition affect everyday life (linen/viscose versus polyester/cotton)?
What are the advantages and disadvantages of the two?

In the past, one of them was said not to be washable (if I remember correctly). That is no longer the case. A few months ago, at an IKEA, the salesperson hinted that the cheaper one is the better one. However, I foolishly did not follow up because the decision for Backabro had not yet been made (we initially wanted to get Vilasund).

Can someone help me with the decision-making?

Does anyone even have a Backabro sofa, regardless of color and fabric, and can say whether he/she is satisfied with it?

Hello! I just assembled an Ikea Backabro. It actually went quite well. I only have one fabric piece left and cannot see the purpose of this part. It has to do with the seat/bed mattress and I am looking for an IKEA fan (owner of such a sofa) who can please tell me something about it, i.e. installation, use, etc. Unfortunately, the illustrations do not cover this, I think! ops: I am grateful for any help. Regards, walterhein

I have now figured out the purpose and use of this mysterious fabric piece with my own brainpower. It is practically a protective cover, which is used or can be used when converting the sofa into a bed if desired! With the slatted frame extended and the cushions removed, you can find half of a zipper on each side at the lower part of the backrest cover. On the protective cover, you will also find half a zipper at one end (left and right). With these zippers, the protective cover is now attached to the backrest cover. The seat/bed mattress is now unfolded, the back cushions are laid flat between the backrest and mattress on the slatted frame, the protective cover is pulled over the cushions including the mattress, and the end of the mattress is tucked into a designated pocket at the end of the protective cover. Result: lying surface of 120cm x 200cm covered with a tightly fitted protective cover! Note: This protective cover and its application/use are not found in the supplied illustrations! I am now enthusiastic about Ikea Backabro. A very nice and practical sofa bed!

We had our sofa assembled by the delivery service, so I couldn’t help with that.

Judging by the measurements, do you have the two-seater?

Because with the sofa with chaise lounge, we also have the protective cover for the lying surface, but it is fastened at the back with press studs and at the front with elastic bands around the corners – so nothing with a zipper.

Basically, I can say that after 1.5 years we are very satisfied with it and our guests have also slept very well on it.

Have fun with your sofa!

Thank you for your comment! Yes, it is a two-seater and made for our little two-room apartment. The sleeping area invites a test sleep, but I leave that to our visitors during the Advent season. We are very happy with our newest piece! Best regards from Frankfurt, Walter
