Hello everyone,

how do you actually drill a 3x1.5 cable correctly through monolithic masonry for an outdoor lamp? So the drilling is clear, with a long drill and done. But I actually meant more specifically, how do you make the seals on the inside and outside walls airtight around the cable?

Enlarge the hole on the outside and then spray a 2 cm deep silicone layer around the cable? Or are there special collars for this? Or is it enough to seal the cable on the outside and inside with a smooth coat (stone adhesive or similar)? How exactly is such a BlowerDoorTest?

Thank you very much for your answers

A blower door test is not that precise; even if you leave your 12mm hole for your cable open and don’t pull the cable through, the test would probably still be passed.

Nevertheless, it must of course be sealed professionally.

Lay on both sides in/under plaster

Seriously? The BlowerDoor test really doesn’t notice a 12mm hole (so it’s within the tolerance range)?

And plaster is enough? When is the BDT done? Only after the exterior plaster?

Depending on the plaster, because only the plaster ensures airtightness.

Plaster is sufficient.
