Hello,

I would like to know how a foundation slab must be constructed for a semi-detached house.
My foundation slab was attached to an existing semi-detached house. Under the foundation slab, dimpled membrane and another membrane were laid. At the point where it meets the other foundation slab, the membranes were pulled up so that they now protrude between the slabs. Behind this, there is still 1-2 cm of air to the other foundation slab, so there is no direct contact. Our neighbor and their architect said that this is a problem for sound insulation.
How should this normally be done, and what can be done now?

Hi,

floor slabs can be separated or not. In any case, proper planning is necessary.

I don't know why the dimpled membrane was pulled up so high there. A 2cm gap seems a bit tight to me.

And now my standard question: What does your general contractor/supervising contractor say about it? Does he say it's okay? Maybe you can ask the neighbor's architect more precisely? He knows the conditions and also wants a proper separation.

Regards

He says that the foil should be removed there, if it's then 3cm, it would be ok, and then put in one of those (I forgot the name, I think it was) glass wool boards.

Hello,

a detailed planning is logically not possible from here. But if your general contractor apparently doesn't care about anything and thinks everything is right, then I would, in your place, follow the neighbor's architect a bit.
The foil obviously has to be removed, the separation joint sealed, proper soundproofing must be ensured at the partition walls, etc.

I don't believe my GÜ doesn't care, they just apparently don't know any better?!

Can you please explain to me, as an absolute idiot, why the bubble wrap has to be removed? Can't it just stay and then be sealed?

What should the joint be sealed with?

Noppenbahn should not be placed between the floor slabs for soundproofing reasons.

You yourself say that there is hardly any space left anyway.

The expansion joint should also be continuous, i.e. the partition walls must also have a certain distance and be separated by soundproofing mats.

If a joint is made, it should be planned properly. But as said, no detailed planning here.
