The new KfW 55 EE standard was met by me through a Wolf air-source heat pump and central ventilation system - no photovoltaics needed.

No, ee stands for renewable energy:

An "Effizienzhaus EE" class can be achieved both in new construction and in the renovation of old buildings if renewable energies provide at least 55 percent of the energy required for the heating and cooling supply of the building.
The following types of heat generation can be used for this:
Use of solar thermal energy
Own generation and use of electricity from renewable energies for heat generation, excluding direct electric heating based on solid-state heat storage
Use of geothermal energy / environmental heat / waste heat from wastewater by means of a heat pump
Combustion of solid biomass
Combustion of gaseous biomass
Connection to district heating that is produced more than 55% by the aforementioned types of heat generation
