Good evening,

our single-family house is currently in the middle of construction. We had already posted initial designs here earlier and received very valuable comments.
We then made a few extra rounds, revised the plans once again, and are now finally building our house on a beautiful hillside plot.

From the basement level, you will step out onto the terrace at ground level – therefore, we now have the living-cooking-dining area with a wide southeast-facing window front.

Now it is mainly about details for us, such as the selection of window systems, external blinds, etc. Currently, we are particularly interested in two window systems for which we also have offers. Maybe you have tips, experience, or suggestions for us on this and other topics.
For the window front, we have the following options:

- JOSKO ONE System. It is an aluminum window system with a frame visible width of only about 7 cm. The lift-and-slide door also has no wider frame and therefore does not immediately catch the eye.

- Actual Cubic F Line in combination with the "LOFT" all-glass system. Here, practically only the lift-and-slide door would be framed visibly in wood-aluminum. The fixed glazing next to it would be visually frameless and executed as "glass joints only."

- Drutex Iglu Energy plastic windows: The cheapest option. However, skylights would have to be introduced here because the windows are not possible in 2.80m room height.

While the two upper variants do not show an extreme price difference (Actual is cheaper), the Drutex solution would be approximately €15,000 cheaper for all the windows in the house – but also with the least appealing material.

We would be very interested in your thoughts on this topic.

Thank you very much and have a nice evening all!

Wow, quite a lot has changed there – did someone maybe send their architect into the desert (or did he retire and now the junior is in charge)?

Something like this We worked with architects for the planning and are only carrying out the construction itself with the engineering office.

Here are a few more views in 3D - the choice of colors (windows, roof, etc.) has not yet been decided, and we would also be interested in your opinions on this.

You do have a budget. Is there even 15,000 euros available?

If plastic windows, I would leave them white.
If enough money is available, take the more expensive ones, at least in the basement.

Hello Haydee, for the additional €15,000 we would save in other areas (e.g. cheaper parquet than originally planned) to at least somewhat offset the additional costs.

The appearance of the two more expensive options is already quite different from the plastic windows. Therefore, we are currently leaning towards them. According to both suppliers, the durability is also better because the aluminum on the outside protects against deformation and material fatigue – what is your view on this?

Are there any other assessments regarding Josko (aluminum) vs. actual (wood-aluminum / all-glass)?

We have plastic. Draw a comparison between my aunt's house and my parents'. The plastic windows from the 80s are just as broken/intact as the aluminum ones. Maybe in 20 years we will completely redesign the house? Who knows. It was only advised against foiling the plastic windows in anthracite. The window frames heat up significantly more in summer and that would have long-term effects on durability. My husband works with plastics, he saw no problems. However, for me doors that do not have the desired height would be a no-go. That would rule out plastic. That is my personal opinion.
