Good day dear readers,
about my situation:
I am 28 years old and a professional IT specialist. I myself have a 30% disability but could increase it to 50%, I just haven’t done it so far because it would make me less attractive to the job market. My wife, 23, is pregnant (Hurray, I’m going to be a father). We currently rent.
My father would now bequeath us his house. It has about 130 sqm, was built in 1940, and is on a 1300 sqm plot. Renovations were started 15 years ago but never finished because my father lives alone and is no longer young. The heating throughout the house was renewed, as well as the bathroom and kitchen. Definitely, the whole house needs new insulation, replastering, and painting.
But I don’t want to put my father out on the street, of course. My question now is, what would be cheaper? To build an extension of maybe 50 sqm and set up an apartment for him there or to build a free-standing 50-70 sqm house on the plot? Personally, I would prefer option 2 but it strongly depends on the costs.
What would such a small house cost approximately? (No fancy stuff, just a regular standard house)
Or what does an extension cost approximately?
Does my disability certificate give me an advantage regarding support from the state?
I understand it is hard to generalize prices, but theoretically a guideline would be enough for me.
Thank you for the time you take
Best regards
Thomas (soon-to-be Dad Thomas)
