Hello everyone,

Next week the time has come for us and we will receive the handover of our house. The interior finishing is completely finished. Now my question is how I should prepare for it and what I need to pay attention to. Somehow I haven’t found a thread about this.

Does anyone of you have tips or even experiences? It’s a prefab house from a reputable manufacturer.

Thanks to you and best regards

Hello Zenjamino, Generally, a building surveyor for regular construction supervision who checks the construction in the various construction phases with construction checks is always recommended. Therefore, definitely take an independent building expert with you for the house acceptance.

When the interior finishing is completely done, you won't see the botched work anymore anyway. Then it's mainly about the appearance, that everything that should be there is there and that everything works as it should. Everything electrical works, all windows and doors are properly adjusted, etc. That's what I would look at.

Hi,

we don't have a building inspector. Call it naive, but I often walked through with my friend, who is an architect, and then we spoke with the house construction company. From my point of view, it worked well.

But we don't need to discuss that topic, I would just like to know what to pay attention to in a completely finished house. Windows sealed or the like, etc.

Regards

We walked through days before and wrote down every scratch, dent, and stain.

Check windows for scratches.
Test sockets for functionality.
Scratches on doors and thresholds.
Check tiles for cracks and grout.
Exterior facade for stains.
Check windows for smooth operation, I think the person who adjusted them even used an empty [ ] to check if they close properly.
Tap on tiles to see if they sound hollow.

The problem will be that dirt hides a lot and often only becomes visible after a thorough cleaning.

Many things are only noticed after moving in, but these are often just minor issues.
