So we save away 2000 euros every month alongside our normal expenses like 2 vacations, insurances, retirement provisions, cars, etc.

We want to build in Dreieich because we do not want to tear our children away from school and their circle of friends. We have moved a lot in recent years and I am not very eager to start over again now that we have social contacts in the area. Besides, we are not very flexible geographically due to professional reasons.

Well, if you definitely want to stay in Dreieich, then you probably only have the alternative of not building at all. I used to live there too, but building there would simply be too expensive for me.

Best regards
Sabine

Equity / income match, you are also in "life" and should know what you can handle. In any case, secure long-term interest rates...

I think so too. Equity should then be around 150k. That should work. If you really have secure jobs... why not. But for me, it would also be too much... But actually, our 500k are too much for me as well. However, I don't have a secure job.

With a construction volume of about 800k, 40k buffer is not that much. You should plan enough money for exterior etc. And a multi-month salary reserve is also not wrong. We have about 20k construction buffer + 70k for exterior, climate control, kitchen, moving, alarm, furniture, etc. In addition, a reserve for 1-2 years in case something goes wrong (as I said... I don't have a secure job).

Best regards, Steffen
