I once had such an open layout in an apartment. The entrance hall or vestibule alone already provides a psychological effect in many ways. Pragmatically, there is noise, cold/wind, and dirt. In addition, I would definitely separate the kitchen-living area from the stairwell with a door at least. Two room doors are acoustically much better than one door. If necessary, the door can be designed as a sliding door or glass door to make it appear more open or normally left open. Given the size of the entrance hall, I would not be stingy either. One square meter makes a much bigger difference there than in the living room.

: Hello, yes, you’re right, in California or Florida you don’t have to store heavy jackets or muddy shoes, so you can probably live well with the solution of having the front door in the living room. Is the front door also located in your hallway, or do you have a vestibule in between?

We don't have a windbreak and I wouldn't want one either.

: Thanks. (We don't have one planned either. However, we do have a door to the living area.)
