Safety yes.... But a floodlight system and 24h video surveillance suggest fear to me... However, it is more of a societal problem, living without fear is not easy and often has to be relearned.

These people, who are especially panicked, we also have in our new development area. The amount of security technology invested there... well, if you need it, then just do it.

Oh yes, I am for conventional switches on the windows ;) Additionally, an automation that covers 90% of the cases (whether KNX, Homematic, wired or wireless, ....). The remaining 10% of situations are usually those where you are more likely to be standing in front of the window than at a central location like a living room door. And then get my phone and tap around on some app.. no thanks.

The attitude changes as soon as the first houses in the neighborhood are emptied... A stupid presence simulation as described by Grym hardly brings anything... here you simply have to rely on devices that can do more than just turn lights on/off and raise/lower shutters.

A simulated barking dog or TV simulation with the well-known LED spotlight from the Far East are more like toys and at most scare off teenagers.

The security concept should be well thought out... similar to home automation... more is not always better... is wrong in both cases.

Of course, a presence simulation helps little against professional burglary gangs, but it does deter opportunistic thieves.

Light is just as powerful a tool and the mere presence drives away some people... because the risk of being discovered increases exponentially.
