Hello everyone,

last night I found rough, holey spots in the parquet. I hope the picture shows the case well enough.

We moved in about 2 weeks ago. I can't really say whether and how these spots were already there. I never really noticed it before, but now it bothers me more and more, especially because I am worried that these spots will get bigger or new problem areas will appear elsewhere.

These spots feel very rough, so I at least want to do something about it.
How do you assess this? Does this come from production? Or did these spots occur later?
What should I do best about it?

Thank you very much

B-grade goods, not properly monitored during production. Nothing will happen, but at full price I would also want A-quality. I've seen this occasionally when laying parquet and then only laid the boards in invisible places or similar.
I would complain.

Can these spots be repaired?

I don't think so. At most, sand them down thoroughly - but that doesn't seem advisable to me, as the repair is more likely to cause further damage. At most, use very fine sandpaper and turn rough marks into smooth marks.

I know, dents in the parquet are very annoying at first. But over time, more will appear, and eventually it won't be as bothersome.

The spot is of course a flaw. Hard to understand how it came about. has the right approach: A real wood floor "lives" from use in the house and develops its character over time. The first spot is still perceived as a "flaw." Later, you love the floor as it is. Those who don't like that are probably better off with another material.
