Hello,
starting Monday, our shell construction will begin. We are getting a solid wood house, and the ceilings will be made in visible wood quality and are currently planned to remain untreated (possibly later oil/wax). Now I want to prepare some cables for, for example, presence detectors or similar, but I know that I definitely will not connect most of them at the beginning. This certainly applies to the rented residential unit and possibly also to my own used unit. With our construction method, I certainly cannot pull cables afterwards.
So far, I have planned to hide unused cables as follows. Drill a hole for the outlet in the ceiling, mill away a few millimeters around the edge with a router, and then make (have made) a matching wooden ceiling piece. This will then be flush with the rest of the ceiling and should not be too noticeable if secured with 2 or 3 small screws.
The cables (mostly signal cables / CAT7A duplex) will then lie in the cavity and can be connected if needed. Possibly also power cables. Does anyone have any concerns about preparing some cables this way?
