Hello everyone,

attached you can see our floor plan. Our planner has now set the windows almost everywhere at a sill height of 100 and made them 126 cm high. Somehow I don’t like these windows. I often see these window bands in new buildings, which I also like very much. What are the standard sill heights there and what height do those windows then have?

How would you place the windows in my floor plan? In the living room the south side is almost certain, i.e. 3 meter sliding door plus double window in the kitchen (sill height 125, 201cm x 101cm). But on the west side I am totally unsure which sill heights, window widths, and window heights I should choose.

I find the placement of the front door somewhat unfortunate. Is the visitor supposed to be guided through the kitchen? And why do you have 2 doors to the kitchen? Also, the rear seats at the dining table are difficult to access. The table will hardly be able to stay in place like that. 2 toilets? Or toilet and bidet? In any case, the two are much too close together. Please upload the plans from your architect. Maybe more can be gathered from them.

We have planned strip windows in our house. The parapet height is 150 cm, the strip windows are 70 cm high.

I can hardly imagine that this floor plan comes from a planner.

1. Yes, the guests are supposed to go through the kitchen. This is intentional because I don't want the guests to pass by my bedroom. Possibly the left door to the kitchen will still be oriented towards the living room, but it still needs to be checked if there is enough TV wall remaining and if it does not look disturbing.
2. This second door serves as access to the bathroom, bedroom, and basement.
3. We will only place the table on our parquet and not fix it with concrete, so it can still be rotated and moved if necessary, irony alert, there is enough space.
4. The second toilet is, of course, a bidet; the position will still be adjusted.
5. Does the top edge of the strip lights align with that of the sliding doors for you?

This floor plan comes from a planner, but he only implemented our wishes. Finding a proper floor plan here is an extreme challenge because everything revolves around the staircase in the middle. And as it is now, we like it very much, except for a few minor details.

3. However, it is not entirely unimportant where the table is placed because of the lamp above... It was just a remark that you should consider this. 4. Is there enough space for that? Always plan with the actual dimensions and positions to avoid an unpleasant outcome. 5. Yes, the upper edge of the light strips ends flush with the other windows/doors.

If you plan a closed roofed area in front of the dining room, the west window in the dining room should not be too sparse. And since the west window in the living room is the only source of light, it should not be too small either.

3. You are absolutely right, we haven't considered that yet. Thanks for the hint.

4. The planner is coming again today and we will go through everything together.

5. The terrace roof is covered with laminated safety glass [VSG Glas], so there should be enough light coming in.

For our light strips, I also thought of somewhat higher windows, about 1 meter. Let's see what the planner suggests today.

Thanks already for the constructive criticism, and if anything else comes up please write. I am grateful for every hint!
