Hello,

a quick question. Our screed heating program will start soon, and from what I've heard, it doesn't come cheap. The connections are installed by the basic suppliers, often local municipal utilities. They are not exactly the cheapest either. Therefore, the question arises whether it is possible or advisable to switch to an alternative provider before starting the screed heating. Is that even possible? How have you solved this?

It was fine with the electricity! We had switched it before the screed heating.

Okay. That should also work with, for example, gas, right? Can someone confirm that?

Just give it a try. The new provider then approaches the Stadtwerke and informs them that they will now supply the gas.

how much savings are we talking about here? Heating up used about 800 cubic meters of gas in our case. Without converting too precisely, that's about 6100 kWh at 6 cents per kWh, which amounts to a total cost of 366 euros with the basic supplier. The saving potential compared to a "cheap provider" is then? At most 1.5 cents per kWh, about 90 euros savings when drying the screed. This does not mean that one should not look for inexpensive providers, but there is no need to get nervous if it doesn't work for drying the screed yet.

As soon as the connection is complete and you are registered with the basic supplier, you can change the tariff and/or the provider. Also retroactively (at least for some time). I see no (technical) problem with that at all. When choosing the provider and tariff, it is usually extremely helpful to know your consumption. That is probably more of an obstacle during new construction and if you also include drying heating, you no longer have any real idea. I would probably stay with the basic supplier for a year, possibly choose a different tariff there, but remain flexible, and only optimize this matter later.
