Hello,

my heating engineer says that I should also install underfloor heating (roughly laid) in my new build in the basement and under the garage (white tank approx. 150m²) so that I can keep it at a constant temperature of 15° to prevent mold in winter.

It's not just the costs for the underfloor heating but also the ongoing costs for the heating (heat pump). Maybe there is another way to prevent mold, for example with ventilation? My question now is, is this really necessary?

Hello,

sorry, but this is the first time I am hearing about this.

In our basement, we have underfloor heating in the hallway area and in the guest room - the remaining three rooms (Technikraum, Hobbyraum & Lagerkeller) without heating.

We did not have any mold problems in the first winter - however, it is advisable to regularly ventilate the basement to get rid of the construction moisture.

I would rather recommend planning the Kontrollierte-Wohnraumlüftung also for the basement rooms.

Regards,

Dirk

In our place, it is constantly 15 degrees in the basement without heating. Even at -15 degrees outside temperature. If the basement is properly insulated and constructed, you won't have any problems even without heating.

Is the garage located within the insulated envelope including the insulated door? If not (which I assume), then the underfloor heating for the garage is probably just as expensive as for the entire house.

Alternatively, I can also stand next to the garage once a month and you can simply put 100 euros in my hand. That's roughly just as reasonable.

To answer this question, more information is needed!

Is it a purely utility basement, or is it within the thermal envelope; that is, is it used wholly or partially as living space?

Rhineland greetings

No, it is planned as a purely utility basement
