Hello,

I have an offer for a heating system renewal (house, 130 sqm, built in 1992, oil central heating). The offer is for a pellet heating system (approx. €22,000) with a solar system (then approx. €35,000). Since we want to buy one with more sqm, I wanted to know what costs to expect roughly if it is a built in 1950, 220 sqm with oil heating. Is €50,000 enough, or does it tend to go into the six-figure range? I need a rough estimate.

Thank you.

No one can tell you that. As always: get several offers and compare them. Anything else is just reading a crystal ball.

Ok, then a more specific question: What does it approximately cost to install radiators and pipework? The house is about 140 sqm. The pipes would be laid from the basement, 1st floor, attic. Is 20000 € (only for the pipes and radiators!) + a new heating system realistic?

Good morning

Of course, this depends on many factors, but as a rough estimate, 700 - 1200€ per radiator is certainly a realistic average price.

Hello,

for both properties, if they are an option, the first step should be an inspection by a qualified energy consultant. Through this independent and neutral advice, you will get an initial overview of which renovation measures are sensible and which heating concept is suitable. A house purchase should never be made without expert advice, so take an expert for purchase consultation along. The costs are in the range of per mille compared to the purchase price.
The consultant coordinates the concept between the existing property, the user behavior, the location, and very importantly, your budget.
If I am not forced to install a new heating system at short notice, e.g. because it has failed or a replacement obligation arises due to reaching the 30-year limit, the basic approach to optimizing energy costs is: 1. Avoid consumption 2. Produce consumption efficiently.
That means for you, with the appropriate budget, that possibly insulation measures should be prioritized and only then heat generation. The background is, on the one hand, that by reducing consumption, entirely new energy generation concepts may become feasible (gas heat pump or other heat pump concepts as well as mixed concepts from solar heat use) or the budget for the heating system becomes so limited that the expensive concepts like pellets or heat pumps are no longer an option, but an inexpensive gas condensing boiler for 6 – 7 thousand euros.
