Good morning everyone,
I have the following question. We want to renovate/remodel an older prefabricated house from 1978 soon. To create more space in the kitchen, we would like to remove the radiator. Now, the consultant from the kitchen company pointed out a heater (model Kickspace 500) in the plinth, which could be connected to the normal circuit and would save the cost of a larger radiator.
The question now is whether a radiator is absolutely necessary in the kitchen?!? Presumably, there are different opinions on this, but I would like to hear them.
For example, my parents no longer have a radiator in the kitchen because the door to the heated living room is always open (except when cooking, but then it’s “warm” anyway).
I have attached the plan. Below the kitchen is currently the room for the oil tanks, but these are to be removed as we are switching to gas. The room below will probably become a bathroom. Oh, and a door will also be installed towards the living room, which will presumably always be open unless cooking is taking place in the kitchen. The kitchen layout will also be different; this is an old plan from before, the cupboards will be rearranged to allow space for the passage to the living room. Seating in the kitchen is also not planned.
What do you think, is this plinth heater necessary? Otherwise, we would save about €500 and could invest it elsewhere. Plus, I don’t particularly like the look of this heater in the plinth.
Thanks.
