There are many roads to Rome... you cannot get around the energy saving ordinance even if you are not interested in KfW...

Usually, gas + solar thermal is enough (unless the house has very poor values) but that does not mean that the usual mini solar system will eventually pay off...

However, this is the biggest nonsense:

I would save the few thousand surcharge and invest it then in a part of the ST. Or go straight to the point and, as already mentioned by others, have a controlled residential ventilation system installed.

Well, even if this wasn’t really the core of the question... I’m still not 100% convinced by this statement. Even though we’ve already discussed it extensively here (see below)...

Because it is a FACT that various home builders have been exempted from the Energy Saving Ordinance.
I even think I saw somewhere an official application for the Energy Saving Ordinance “Application for exemption from the requirements of the Energy Saving Ordinance.”

With this application, you of course have to prove that the expenses for the “required technology” exceed the value of a “common alternative method” (i.e., without significant renewable energies, etc.) in a 10-year calculation. Then you would be exempt from the Energy Saving Ordinance requirements.

The much-loved Mr. Fischer has a lot to say on this topic... Just google... “Mr. Fischer on the topic of Energy Saving Ordinance exemption.”

Whether this makes sense for you or not, I don’t want/can’t judge here..
