We need some support here again. So far, the heating has always been planned in the basement.

1. Indoor installation, technical room, closed off with an appropriate door. Behind it, about 2 meters away and the apartment entrance door, there is a granny flat. According to the technician, you don’t hear anything from the heating in the apartment.

2. Outdoor installation, we could possibly discreetly plan it under the entrance stairs. However, we are definitely bothered by the noise level. On the one hand because we spend a lot of time in front of the house ourselves, and on the other hand, our northern neighbor, who has his terrace about 10 meters away.

Furthermore, indoor costs about 3,000 euros more.

What would you do? All well closed inside the house or outdoor installation after all?

Thank you.

So basically, I consider the external installation to be easier (no light wells) and cheaper (no loss of living space). However, you can hear even new systems. Maybe not loudly, but it can still be disturbing if you have a terrace/balcony on the same side of the house. Therefore, I would place them back on the "utility side" of the house (we have cars, bicycles, and garbage bins there, and the street runs there) and not on the "sunny side." I also find the distance to the neighbor critical. Even if they are not noise sensitive - depending on the orientation, you can definitely feel the airflow from our system more than 10 meters away. So you should probably check in advance at which angle the heat pump blows. Often, the airflow is guided by deflectors and does not come out "straight" from the pump.

Hi,

I have already expressed my opinion on split systems many times, so I would clearly recommend the indoor unit. Neighbors have one and said that the maintenance is also cheaper, no idea if that's true.

Best regards,

Andreas
