On 19.12 our move into the new home (170 sqm + 80 sqm basement) is finally planned. Unfortunately, there are massive delivery difficulties with the air heat pump: Dimplex M22194 System M Comfort Plus

Can someone tell us if it is possible to operate the underfloor heating / hot water with a mobile heating device for two or three months?

The financial damage of moving in six months later would probably be greater than the costs for electricity, device, etc.

Does anyone here have experience whether this could work?

Many heartfelt thanks in advance to all writers.

Yes, that is technically no problem. That will probably be the case. Construction with general contractor or individual trade contracts? Question regarding schedules and damages.

We had similar thoughts, fortunately our heat pump arrived quite soon. These mobile heating units can generate very high outputs, so no worries about the house getting cold. A big disadvantage is that there is no temperature-dependent control. In my opinion, you can manually switch for example 2 kW, 4 kW, or more (ours had max 21 kW). Here, if available, you can use your photovoltaic system. Occasionally, there are winter days where a 15 kWp system can generate 20 or 30 kWh per day. But you also need a hot water generator, e.g. an instantaneous water heater or similar. In my experience, that is not possible with a mobile heating unit.

Thank you all in advance for the answers. The house builder is a small local company with whom we have worked very well so far, which is why I shy away from the "Schadenersatz" card. I hope that the pump will still arrive.

You don't have to come with an official reminder right away. Just ask again at the next appointment/phone call if there has been any progress with the heat pump and if it doesn't arrive on time, ask the builder what he plans to do to solve the problem.

Save yourself the nonsense about compensation and be glad if you get a mobile heater in the current situation, as they are just as scarce as the heaters themselves. Apart from that, you spare your heat pump the heating-up stress, which many general contractors by the way only perform with a heating rod, so no difference to the mobile heater. The heating-up with an air-water heat pump compared to a mobile heater is not a 1 to 3 issue in terms of electricity consumption, but rather about 1 to 1.5, if at all. And you stress your heat pump heavily right away, which easily costs you a year of service life in a few weeks. I find this immediate outcry for compensation terrible. You can't install what you are not currently supplied with.
