hello

when we built last year, we largely based our decision for a construction company on the blog experiences of other builders. even though some were 1-2 years old, I found quite a bit about the company where we eventually built. when I look today, I find nothing new, only the old posts from back then. otherwise, I find few blogs. what is the reason for that?
old blogs often said that construction companies find out when blogs are created. is everyone so afraid of lawyers or what? is it no longer allowed to spread the truth? we actually had very good experiences with our construction companies and would share that too, but we are surprised that no one posts anything like that anymore. here in the forum you have to immediately go all out, which is why I would post elsewhere.
the construction blogs here in the forum are somehow hidden too. I only found them after more than a year...

Why haven't you published your positive experiences long ago? Your temporary construction partner would surely be very pleased about that.

What is that supposed to mean? You are satisfied, aren't you?

Rhenish greetings

Builders are not interested in the 99% that worked but in the 1% that did not work. In the end, everyone still had a finished house, with more or less stress and more or less additional expenses. And what did not work is exactly what you must not post, even though that is precisely what contributes to decision-making. 100% positive sounds like a fake (and it is, as it does not correspond to the truth).

I do think that (prospective) builders are also interested in the positive experiences.

The "1%" negative experiences: these can have so many reasons. Just take my case: 95% of the problems were not caused by the house construction company (apart from the fact that they solved the mentioned 5%, see construction expert: "tone makes music", it wasn’t easy, but it was done). No. It was the municipality. Offices. Authorities, utilities, chimney sweep. Regulations. Forms. Costs that threatened to get out of control. Incredibly difficult scheduling. A never-ending theater, sometimes a huge mess craft-wise in front of the house at the access road etc. etc.

I also know my neighborhood mostly very well: EVERYONE there got their package, got their share. Everyone in their own way. Everyone different. But no one came out of the building story without mud splashes on their face and looked after moving in like after 6 weeks vacation on a Caribbean island with all-inclusive 6-course menus every day.

What I want to say: problem cases are rather individual. I don’t believe that systematic shoddy construction companies can survive on the market.

Every manufacturer has their procedures, so everyone has their systematic weaknesses. All are error-prone. More or less.

Exceptions prove the rule, of course. What didn’t work for one works well for another.

One of the most relevant persons in construction: is the builder/builders. The name is program: you have to do something, you have to "govern", act, react.

Best regards Thorsten

Something really went wrong for us at the beginning of April, which I would also like very much to make public. However, the set framework conditions here ultimately prevent me from doing so.

I had also considered creating a construction diary for a while, but for various reasons decided against it and only document for ourselves. It is also due to the changed situation now (we are now coordinating the trades ourselves). I have also noticed that most construction diaries are somewhat older. In addition, only larger/nationwide turnkey builders could be found online, but not the companies we dealt with.
