I/We were exactly in the same situation as you. In the end, you just think how is this going to hold... the walls are quite stable. At the beginning, I used these expensive screws that spread at the back, made of metal. With drywall, I could also work with my old screws and anchors. For very light things, I just screwed them directly into the wall. If you are unsure about a huge piece of furniture, screw a board behind it with several screws, that way the force is distributed. Then you attach the mirror, for example, with two screws to the board, done. Don’t drive yourself crazy. Take a look at the hardware store, there are many screw solutions, as I said, the normal ones also work. I have 18mm drywall everywhere.
