Gypsum plaster does not hold, too soft - tear it out yes/no? Suggestions?

Our gypsum plaster looked great so far and came into the house around the end of February/beginning of March, so it had enough time to dry out and we were quite satisfied with our construction company Bösteinhaus until now. Now the painter is completely finished inside and we have to find that the paint does not adhere to the wall, although apparently everything was done correctly (primer, very good paint, professional painting company).

What do you think about this? Does anyone have similar problems? Tearing out all the gypsum plaster and redoing it would probably be quite difficult, right?

Actually, you are already quite far along in the search for the cause, if I understand your blog correctly.

It seems to me personally essential to stop all further trades until clarification and defect removal. Has the house been accepted already, presumably yes? Has the final payment been made?
You have made an appointment with the general contractor, so attend that one with the expert and then see how to proceed.
Sorry, but there is probably nothing positive to say about this.

I keep my fingers crossed and recommend, based on my own experience from 16 years ago, to make no compromises on the execution quality due to time pressure. You regret it every single day afterward.

Small addendum - was your planned decorative paint directly on plaster known to the general contractor? Was that agreed upon? I think there might have been the option to use, for example, cement plaster. Well, I'm curious to hear what the experts will say about it starting tomorrow.

What is the expert’s profession?
From what I can recognize as a master painter and expert just from a picture is that the surface of the gypsum plaster has an extreme amount of sinter skin, which must be removed mechanically or chemically in order to serve as a paint carrier. Even the best primer will not help with that.

@schwarzmeier,

the expert calls himself a "sworn expert for painting technology and coating materials," to my knowledge he is also a master painter and should be quite competent in his field. At least that’s how I chose him.

@JoS As far as I know, Bösteinhaus customers paint directly onto the gypsum plaster. The model house was also painted directly. Most just fit the ceilings with painter’s fleece.

At the last appointment

As an "expert," Bösteinhaus brought the sales manager of the plaster wholesaler to our first appointment. His conclusion was roughly summarized: "the plaster is okay as it is."

Why the problem occurs in 7 out of 8 row houses could not be clarified.

We discussed the SInterhypaut issue with the expert and the builder – unfortunately without any significant result. As far as I understand, our plaster consists of a very thick "SInterhypaut-like" layer that cannot be easily sanded off – but only a laboratory test can provide more precise information.

Tomorrow, on the advice of Bösteinhaus, the "technical manager of the company Knauf" will come first to take a look at the problem. In the following blog post you can see the Knauf silo in front of our house – it must have been just before plastering.

That a plaster can consist of a very thick SInterhypaut layer I am hearing here for the first time. Apparently, I never stop learning. I do not want to offend the colleague expert, but since SInterhypaut is very thin, it can also be chemically broken up by fluoridation and thus ensure adhesion for painting technology. That is what you learn in vocational school.
