Unfortunately 100% agreement. Even with a verbal agreement followed by a written email, it was still done incorrectly afterwards. (There are exceptions, but unfortunately in my experience this is the rule)

Sorry for you. You definitely should change that, otherwise you'll be annoyed for years... As far as I know, porcelain stoneware is extremely hard. Scraping out grout should not damage the tiles (damaged ones have to be replaced).

You speak from my soul... after some things went wrong, we only work half days and are always there...

Sometimes something is arranged with the boss (screed, accelerator in the boiler room), then the employee who carries it out knows nothing about it.

You get the frustration because you have to wait forever until it’s dry and everything gets delayed, like the delivery of the heating system.

We are there everywhere when they come. Now everything fits. Except my nerves, I never wanted to build like this.

I would like to do that too. And financially you still manage that?

We step back, and I am sure we prevent so much from going wrong that it’s worth it. It’s also only until the end of the year.

And quite a bit is done by ourselves that was never planned that way in the beginning. Painting alone: I won’t let anyone near my roof structure anymore, I do it myself 200 times better, not because I’m better at it but simply because I put in more effort and don’t rush, next construction site.

But I also understand the poor devils: our fitter recently came to us at 6:20 and was still here at 5 p.m.... oh man

On the other hand, I would also find it too stupid to stand around there half the day and watch them closely. I also couldn’t work well if my boss stood next to me all the time and watched how I worked...

I didn’t check them for hours either. But we held daily construction meetings, which is what the architect usually does. With the journeymen. Not the boss. The boss sits in the Q5 with the phone at his ear, the journeyman sits on the site and that counts. For example, I laid out the kitchen plan, the bricklayer says, ok, you left too little space for light switches and door frames, I’ll make the door opening a bit further over there, yes? Yes. Stairwell, should we do it this way or that way? What is paid, I ask? He, like this. But this is not good, this would be better. What does it cost? Don’t know. I know, you get 100,- and just do it the way that’s better. Drywall ceiling, guys, you can’t be serious. Why? Puppy eyes. Because those are waves like on a belt. You’re carpenters, man, you weren’t taught to do it like that. Embarrassed silence. When I was gone, they tore it down and redid it. Etc.
