Oh dear, I have a bad feeling about this. For the laundry room (40sqm, including heating and tank room, shower+WC) and for the kitchen (25sqm plus 6 sqm pantry), we have purchased gray tiles and I specifically requested light grout. The shade silver-gray caught my eye - probably it was a devilish grin. They have not been installed yet, but I can prepare myself for that. Although I simply don't find dark grout visually appealing. But reading this here now, I will have to prepare myself to have exactly that in a few years. At least in the middle.

Hello, we had light travertine tiles installed. With travertine, it is the case that in addition to the actual joints, the holes in the travertine stone are also filled with joint compound. We fully relied on the provider’s (Jonastone) recommendations for choosing the joint color and hope that it actually remains light over the years (light beige from Sopro). Here is an excerpt from the recommendation:

Are light joint colors sensitive to dirt?
If you are worried about the stain sensitivity of lighter joint colors, then rest assured. Quality manufacturers like Ceresit or Sopro are increasingly incorporating a so-called “pearl effect” into their joint compounds. This means that the joints are water-repellent and thus more resistant to dirt. In addition, there are effective joint cleaners that quickly remove unwanted stains from joints, e.g. the cleaner “Fugenfrisch.” If the discolorations are stubborn and cleaning does not work, you can refresh the color with a joint colorant. Therefore, when choosing the joint color for your natural stone, fully rely on your aesthetic sense. Source: Jonastone

Best regards, Steffi

The joint mortar completely satisfies our aesthetic sense. The joint compound in the movement joints does not. I scrubbed them twice in 11 months with a small brush on my knees. Maybe they are just half a millimeter deeper. Normal floor mopping does not clean these joints.
