Good day everyone,

this concerns a construction project for a single-family house with a basement (solid construction). During the soil test, groundwater was detected at a depth of 1.30 meters - now our construction company says the build could cost 200K€ more, white tank, pumping, sheet piles, etc. Can anyone say something about this, is groundwater such a big and costly problem? On Tuesday we will be at our construction company, but we would be interested in your experiences.

Best regards

The white tank is probably the necessary solution. Whether extreme costs like sheet piling, water retention, etc. are necessary cannot be assessed here. That is what the [Bodengutachter] says in his recommendation. Please post it here.

Without a basement is then the lesser evil.

Welcome to the forum,
with 1.3m groundwater I would not build a basement, the water can be higher in wet years,
then it flows into the basement light wells, and basement windows are not submarine windows.
Those lying lower flood faster.
Does the floor area ratio allow a larger footprint or are you already at the limit?

Unfortunately limit and the allowed area is really small, 100m2

Water at a depth of 1.3m... you should almost consider stilts if it's a rainy year :D I would then skip the basement, it would basically always be standing in water, right?
