Hello everyone,

I have been searching for days – does anyone know a planning software up to approx. 200€ that could support me with my home planning? I am not looking for professional CAD drawings. I bought a software at the hardware store for 20€ which I immediately threw in the bin. I am grateful for any tip – maybe some of you have software in use and could give a few tips.

Best regards, Daniel

Clear answer.. an architect.. use the knowledge to implement your personal requirements, because you will lose a lot if you don’t.. You build a house once and save in the wrong place if you plan it yourself. Take your requirements and have them implemented and you will be pleased with what is possible. When I think about how my floor plan looked when I once tried it myself and what came out of it.. wow..

That's exactly the problem.. how do you want to play if you don't know the rules and the possibilities? And besides, you block your view because at some point you find something you like and direct everything else towards that. Better look at floor plans, which are available here on the net at Google. They work and provide inspiration if you absolutely want to do something yourself..

What I can highly recommend is Google Sketch Up, it is free and after a short learning phase, almost unlimited possibilities are available. Especially when furnishing, the online database helps where many pieces of furniture can be downloaded, and if not, you can also make the items yourself in the program. As a newbie, I took about 3 hours for our TV cabinet, and every piece of furniture after that always goes a bit faster.

What Sketchup cannot do (at least as far as I know) is dimensioning, which would be quite important.. and so far it's only about a potential floor plan, so I don't think the program is particularly great for that. After that, I also made a 3D drawing of our house. It was fun.. you can only poorly build walls on the inside, so I can see through the window on one side all the way to the garage on the other side.
