Geothermal heat pump, solar, and fireplace as heating?

Hello everyone,

I am currently dealing with the options for heating for our new house. More or less, I have now decided on a geothermal heat pump. However, I would definitely like to also use a fireplace. I have already read that this should be possible.

But is it also possible if I place the fireplace in the living room and the pump in the utility room?

Everything then runs into a buffer. Can I also feed solar energy into it, or would that be too much of a good thing?

Many thanks and best regards,

Hello,
That is possible, but it doesn’t make much sense. The overall efficiency, and here the combustion efficiency is not meant, of the water-based fireplace is about 50%! In addition, heat pump and fireplace operate at different temperature levels.
Yes.
That’s exactly the problem. Geothermal heat pumps should sensibly be connected directly to the heating circuit without detouring via a buffer. The buffer causes efficiency losses.
You can practically do almost anything! Whether it actually makes sense in the individual case should be critically examined (or have it examined).
Geothermal heat pump + photovoltaics would be a sensible combination. If a fireplace is wanted for the occasional fire experience, then one with the lowest output without integration into the heating system.

Best regards.

Hello,

Thank you for the response. I would like to discuss with the heating engineer at the beginning of the new year. I always like to be a bit better prepared for such conversations (unlike with my car).

It's a pity that the combination of fireplace - geothermal heat pump is not so effective. Then I have to check what the solar system costs. Is it really the photovoltaic, I thought it was for domestic hot water heating?

Best regards and have a good start into the new year,

Hello €uro,

Don't always tar all craftsmen with the same brush; there are also exceptions to the type you described

Let the user "Haunt" lead the conversation first, post the content here, and then we'll see further....

Kind regards

Let's see, the heating specialist will be back from 9.1. Then I'll post the latest findings.
