Hello, I am already thinking about heat generation without gas or oil. My first thought and tip from an employee was a water-carrying fireplace. He heats his entire house with it in winter. For summer, I thought a large solar system would probably be enough. Now I am considering whether the fireplace with water pockets is sufficient or if a ground source heat pump is also needed. I have also already looked at the SolvisMax stratified storage tank. So spring to autumn: solar Wintertime: geothermal + fireplace Is this a good and above all affordable solution?

How is heating supposed to be done with solar? Where does the hot water come from in winter?

I wouldn't know how to heat with solar either.

Hello Henny0710,

I think the decision on which heating system to use depends on many parameters. There is no 'best heating system' that fits all houses.

You have to look for individual solutions for each house and its users.

Example 1: One person likes to heat with wood (logs), which means a lot of work (unlike gas heating), while another does not want to deal with heating at all; everything should work automatically.

Example 2: One house is huge and poorly insulated, the other is small and very well insulated. One has to heat all day with a lot of wood, while the other only needs to fire up once a day.

...

In general, it can be said that if you want to work with a heat pump (which extracts heat from the earth, groundwater, or air), this is usually combined with a solar system (power generation); a heat generation system with a burner (gas, oil, wood, pellets, ...) can also be sensibly combined with hot water collectors.

If you want more detailed information, then you have to provide more detailed information about the property and the planned measures!

Best regards

Hello,
we quickly discarded heating with a water-bearing fireplace. The costs are significant and the effect too small, because the fire simply burns too quickly and the quantities are way too meager. A proper wood stove with a water buffer is something different. "A fireplace is always a luxury," a fireplace builder told us, and he was right. Having to heat with it is a torment because you never get done refueling. If I were you, I would think about that again.

In my opinion, solar thermal is never wrong if you have the south-facing location and the roof area for it - ha, and of course the money.

I think you should look for a solid basic supply - for us, it was geothermal energy. We want to supplement this with solar thermal (if the money suffices) and the fireplace is just a heating option when it’s really cold outside.

Hello,

Brine heat pump or domestic hot water heat pump or air heat pump and solar thermal system hardly match thermally competitive demands on their own. Heat pump + photovoltaic is usually much more economical.
Geothermal energy scores with high demand, i.e. moderate insulation and cool locations, air heat pump with moderate to low demand, i.e. good insulation and mild locations.
With both, photovoltaic is by far the more favorable "contract partner" in terms of the annual balance. Here, heating and hot water can often be realized at "zero cost," which is hardly possible with a solar thermal system.

Best regards
