The gas pipe is rusting sporadically in the basement (see photos). Should action be taken here?

- Corner piece
- (sporadically twice)

In my opinion, yes. I showed the photos to my heating engineer and would ask for an assessment. Karsten

Hello,

in my opinion, yes, absolutely, the pipe / bends / fittings look very dilapidated and definitely need to be replaced immediately in my view, the hemp connections also no longer look really trustworthy.
In the last photo, there is a screw connection visible if I am not mistaken, this is also in accessible rooms and according to [a.a.R.d.T] no longer permitted.

So please immediately call a gas specialist and have the pipe replaced!

In case of gas smell, please turn off the gas valve immediately and do not use any open lights / switches / fire and ventilate!

Thank you very much!

Now it is the case that about 6 months ago a man from the office measured increased values, turned off the gas, some pipe was replaced, he was here again 2 weeks ago and checked that everything is alright. My photos were taken afterwards.

But to have a safe feeling I will probably have it replaced!?! Thanks for the safety

(The fitting must go then!?
(Is that complicated?))

... Don't know how one can approve such a condition of the line without recommending replacement, but okay.

A good installer will replace the line and will also have to bring all other issues up to current standards; just replacing a section to restore tightness would be really too risky for me given the condition...

The fitting must be removed if freely accessible to third parties,
*in a modern, state-of-the-art gas system, a freely accessible fitting has no place even in a single-family house in my opinion!*

Regards Chriz

That makes sense with the screwing. I consider that just as important.

But first I will confront the inspector with the rust. That can't be right! I will report back!
Thank you very much!
