Hello,

unfortunately, I am stuck with the topic of garden lighting and would appreciate your expertise and experiences.

Here are my questions:

In the garden, I will lay an empty conduit for electricity (sockets, low voltage cable)/Lan (IP camera) and I would like to use a 12V or 24V lighting system.

1.- 12V or 24V, which is best to use and why?
2.- Do you have a manufacturer/system (expandable!) recommendation?
3.- To me, the cables/connections do not look 100% outdoor robust, what are the experiences with extreme rain, snow, martens.... and can all of this stay outside all year round?
4.- You often see that the cables simply lie under the lawn or above ground... how durable is that?

Thank you very much!

I don’t believe in that. Lay out a 230 earth cable, it ends in an energy pillar Camping, look it up on Google, around 600 with FI protection there is something decent, it contains CE sockets, they are really weatherproof, everything stays dry even during a thunderstorm or snowstorm. This pillar is your hub for garden lights that you plug in there, you make the pillar switchable inside via a light switch, with us it’s right next to the patio door, the logical place. The outdoor lamp on the wall is also connected to it. With something like that, you’ll never have trouble. karsten

Hello,

I have such a socket on the house wall or can install it at the end of the empty conduit... but I am reluctant to use 230V lighting because of children, animals, difficulty securing it, and poor expandability..etc.
Or am I perhaps wrong here?!

If it is fi secured, completely safe. With LEDs, low wattage, low consumption. And there is a proven market for truly waterproof connections. I am less afraid of that.

Do you perhaps have a system recommendation or experience with this? How expandable is it in the 230V range? I only know the 24V plug systems from Paulmann, for example.

As said, weatherproof on earth the CE connection. Even more robust, completely waterproof, thus also usable in earth or underwater. Philippi series 692. Proven on ships. But they are also available for 12-volt technology and direct current. Take a look at the stuff. They are really tight. Permanently. K.
