Garage boundary construction Hessen

Hello,

we have received a statement from our building authority that garages and garden sheds may be built on the boundary up to a total length of 15m (according to the Building Code). Now I am wondering what exactly this means. Am I allowed to build a boundary structure of 15m on my property, or does the neighbor’s boundary structure on my property also count? Assuming the neighbor has a 6m long garage on my property. Am I now allowed to build an additional 15m boundary structure elsewhere, or do I have to subtract the neighbor’s 6m and may only build 9m? Or is something entirely different meant by this? Does anyone know?

Always applies to your own building plot, consult the Hessian State Building Code, §6 (10) ff distance areas for privileged buildings.
