Hello,

I registered here with my question and hope that someone might have an idea for my problem :)
In our new building, the kitchen was installed. At the beginning of the kitchen line, a panel (2.5 cm thick) was installed. Then follow base cabinets in 90, 60, 90 (with hob). Above are wall cabinets in 90, 60 and the extractor hood. The countertop slightly overhangs the panel. The backsplash was adapted to the length of the countertop, so that there is now a "gap" to the left of the tall cabinets, as the backsplash begins before the wall cabinets start.

As a possible solution, it was suggested to us to also install a 2.5 cm thick panel above (although it is more than 2.5 cm) or to hang the wall cabinets offset from the base cabinets. I do not find either solution particularly appealing. Does anyone happen to have another idea?

Simply attach a narrow strip of the wood-colored board. Probably even a stripe of paint, applied in a similar brown tone, visually softens the problem.

Huh who plans something like that? Every kitchen studio would have made the top cabinet so long that both are the same length in the end?

Tear everything out!
No, seriously: however this could have been solved or should have been… what’s wrong with it?
It is true that the upper and lower cabinets are vertically aligned.
If the countertop is planned to be larger or overhanging, you have the choice: either the mirror with the countertop or with the upper cabinets. If it were the latter, there would also be complaints…
As it is, it’s not offensive… it possibly fits an overhanging countertop (which people don’t really do now, except to the front…)

Ps: if you discuss alignments, it would be helpful to see the whole alignment as well.

Here I have "painted" a brown strip on the wall… as you can see, you can hardly see it anymore ;)

Great, thanks a lot for the effort. Either there will simply be another piece of countertop or it will be painted brown. To my taste, it doesn't stand out as much as it would if it stayed white.

Why exactly things went wrong there, no idea, it just is what it is now.
