Hello, I am the one who asked the question. It is in FUERTEVENTURA, frost-free and extremely dry. I have time now and would like to start with the foundation. However, with FROSTFREIEM soil and extremely little rain and only the ground floor, how deep should I set a strip foundation? Or is a relatively thin slab better? Are 30 cm enough for a strip foundation in this case? Or even less with only the ground floor? The house itself will be very simple, standard windows, standard front door, and the roof also simple. If the money suffices, a southern-style tiled roof (all sides sloped, very low) or if the money is not enough even something simpler. I have the land and I want to build a simple house to partially rent it out and partially live there myself in winter. Thank you for your help.

Hello Boris Frank

you want to do it yourself?!
OK, then dig 40 to 50 cm deep. Whether you spend 4-5 hours more time on it doesn't matter.
And don't skimp on the reinforcement. It really doesn't cost much. 200 to 300 euros, no more.
Isn't Fuerteventura in a tectonically active zone? Without reinforcement, an earthquake of magnitude 4 and your foundation is shredded.
Furthermore, I would consider strip foundation and slab. A 20cm slab including foundations is about 25m³ of concrete. It really doesn't cost the earth.

The reinforcement is not primarily because of frost but because of the temperature differences and the mechanical strength. The temperature differences also exist in Fuerteventura and iron is not expensive.
