ok, then it will probably be an A-opener, since I can't imagine a use case where I manually lock the front door.

As you yourself say, you no longer lock the little bolt but instead have two mechanical hooks. RC2 is achieved with that, I don't know about more. The household insurance also accepts it. Works for me.

Is probably more of a feeling thing for the average security-conscious homeowner. So far, in our rental apartments, we have also secured our front door for years just with the latch (i.e., not locked), but now in the house, Mrs. feels more comfortable when she can lock the door, especially when she is alone. You just have to take that into account

Interesting topic... We also spent some time dealing with the subject of "door," "security," "security lock," "security glass," "security locking cylinder," "automatic lock with A-opener," or "proper motor lock" and "alarm system" during the house construction. Ultimately, the price difference between an A-opener and a proper motor lock was no longer that big, so we finally decided on the fully motorized solution. We got our aluminum door back then from a well-informed dealer who was able to show us both types of locks. The door comes from "Kompotherm" and we like it very much. The installation went flawlessly. For over a year we have not needed keys anymore, thanks to the possibility of opening the door via the built-in fingerprint. The motorized locking position is queried at any time during our absence via an Abus alarm system. Both control units are wired together. We are very satisfied with the entire system and are glad that the door shop pointed us to this solution. Unfortunately, you find too little information about these comfortable and secure options in trade magazines, and the advice of some "specialist dealers" could also be better. Regards

We will work the old way, that is with a lock cylinder and key. That is how I have been opening doors for the last 44 years, and I think I will manage to do it for at least the next 44 as well.

Hello Pierre, I agree with you, turning the key to lock and unlock is still a good and proven solution – but then you actually have to do it! However, especially when locking, unfortunately some of my three beloved family members often slackened with our old apartment entrance door. And once you’ve experienced how quickly such an unlocked door can be opened with the simplest means, you feel quite good with an electronic helper and don’t have to constantly admonish the family. That saves some stress.
