Hello everyone,
our front door was installed a few weeks ago, but we only removed the protective film yesterday and discovered that there is a scratch in the aluminum, about 3 cm long - clearly visible.
In the meantime, several trades have worked on the site.
So we probably cannot insist on a new door from the window manufacturer, since we cannot prove that the scratch was there from the beginning... or??
Could this be a case for the homeowner's liability insurance?
Unfortunately, I am not very familiar with the topic or the legal situation.
Many thanks for your help!!!

You can try it through the construction all-risk insurance, if available, but as a rule, it's just personal bad luck. Moreover, scratches on aluminum doors (powder-coated) cannot be repaired on site.

Doors and windows should be thoroughly checked after installation and defects reported immediately. Weeks later, the window installer just shrugs when x following trades have gone through there.
Our architect keeps reporting damaged doors. Ours will be installed as late as possible.

Protective films must also be removed because adhesive plus sun is equally unfortunate. Our films have corresponding instructions printed on them; I believe it says a maximum of 3 months.

Well, hold on a moment. What kind of contract do you have? Are you getting a house from a [GU] or are you awarding all the trades yourselves?

Then PP applies again.

: For a 3-4k€ part or a scratch in the door (so only an aesthetic defect), a general contractor would also find an excuse and offer 100€ compensation.

We also build with individual trades. Good that such things always happen to others before it happens to us. It opens my eyes every time to be more attentive after completion/installation and to carry out quality control.
