Formwork blocks on the foundation slab in a mortar bed or not?

I simply place the stones in a mortar bed and align them in it, which is then easiest done by aligning each stone of the first row with wedges. It is enough if I then align the following rows with small wedges.

Once the first row is properly aligned, you simply stack one row after the other like Lego. It's like building a house. Nothing is aligned with wedges anymore there ;-)

That might work for 3-4 rows for a wall but not for, I guess, 8 rows for a pool where a few millimeters of deviation already matter.

unfortunately, this is not due to the execution but to the tolerance of the formwork stones
