If you don't shy away from the work, you can lay industrial parquet for 40 euros, that's 20 euros/sqm for wood + 10 euros/sqm for adhesive, primer, and oil. Then a few euros for renting a sanding machine, etc... That gets you to around 40 euros. Below that, it gets difficult with parquet. Finger-joint parquet is a lot of work!

I don’t have underfloor heating, in the hallway parquet for 50€ and you can already notice a significant difference in the walking feel compared to the parquet in the living room which cost 75€ per m². I would always lay 50€ parquet again in the hallway or even in the bedroom. You usually spend only a short time in these rooms. In rooms like the living room, the eat-in kitchen, or other living spaces, I would always opt for something more expensive/better quality. If that is not possible for cost reasons, it is better to look for a different flooring.

A friend of mine has underfloor heating and on it is laid ship deck parquet, which was then sealed. I don’t know the exact total cost per m² but it’s around 60€. It is easy to maintain because of the sealing, but why use wood at all if it is sealed later? In my opinion, that makes no sense. Additionally, I find the floor has a very hard walking feel which I don’t find particularly pleasant.

Another friend is currently building and will probably lay laminate on his underfloor heating for about 20€ per m². Visually hardly any difference, you really have to look closely. Walking feel is probably very similar to parquet or also pleasant and good. The negative characteristics of laminate, which without underfloor heating tend to be quite cold, do not apply in this case. That’s why if I had underfloor heating I would probably proceed similarly.

We have solid wood floorboards, natural oak, in the bedrooms. Only oiled, very pleasant. You might manage with 40 euros, but plus skirting boards. The heating engineer should know your floors for the design of the underfloor heating, then it will fit.

How about real slate on the ground floor?
