Hello,
we are currently planning our interior construction and in the current version our pantry would be completely interior (thus without a window).
Now I have read in various posts that this - depending on the use - can lead to problems.

Of course, we want to use the pantry for storing food but also electrical appliances which are not used daily. Also beverage crates, etc. There is additionally a basement room available where food can be stored long-term.

However, we are also considering whether to place a freezer in the pantry to save space (and the look) in the kitchen.

What do you think of the plan/idea?
What should be considered?

Since there is no window, would there be for example the possibility of (ventilation) via the roof (our apartment is on the upper floor)? However, I do not want to install a skylight directly now.

Regards

We are currently building with a pantry pretty much exactly like that. We also have no window. However, we have a controlled residential ventilation system, so there should be sufficient ventilation. We are probably planning to just omit heating in that room. Still, we will lay the pipes to make the room usable for other purposes in the future if desired / necessary. We have also moved the freezer to the storage room. There we have more space for a device of any size and do not have to use up space in the kitchen. Otherwise, the vacuum robot, the cordless vacuum, etc. have space there, as well as, like you, the beverage crates, etc.

That sounds pretty much like our use case. We are still unsure about the ventilation, whether or not to have it. If so, it will be a decentralized ventilation system. We will also install underfloor heating but keep it turned off. One special feature that I completely forgot to mention: Adjacent to the pantry, there will probably be a chimney running, which also generates waste heat. Is that a problem?

Do yourselves a favor and install a controlled residential ventilation system. Simply integrate the pantry then.

I would only free myself from the idea that such a pantry is cooler than the rest of the living space.

I can confirm that. We had a very similar one in the previous house, just significantly smaller. Even with the heating turned off, it was not really cooler there than in the rest of the living space.
