Floor plan question, stairs, window, orientation

Many thanks for the numerous critical comments! For us/me as laypersons, the first draft looked good – how wrong one can be. :)

We take the criticism on board and will see how we (or rather the draftsman and co.) can do better. A new plan will follow as soon as I have it.
