Hello everyone,

we want to build a semi-detached house next spring.

The dimensions of our semi-detached house are 8.5 m x 10 m, our part of the plot is about 400 sqm.

Garage with roof (carport) to the house in the west, the entrance is also there.

Ground floor: consists of an open kitchen (1 row along the carport wall and 1 cooking island facing the dining table) and dining room (both in the south, floor-to-ceiling windows to the terrace). Living room is in the north.

Upper floor: in the north parents' bedroom and bathroom, in the south two planned children's rooms.

Basement with light well (north).

I am very grateful for suggestions :)

Thank you very much in advance!

Take a look here, there are parallels, at least in the dimensions and on the upper floor, especially the bathroom :) I find the upper floor here (that is, in the other one) better designed.

Are you building with a basement? I would put the WC window to the north (you then have more privacy, even if the window is placed higher up ;)) I find the hallway too narrow, but I wouldn't know how to change the WC and wardrobe accordingly to make it wider.

A comment/a little tip briefly: those who can do it here (almost everyone) have added a second terrace in the north or northwest, since the sun in summer moves further from the west towards the NW in the evening (from 7 pm), so you can still enjoy the sun late in the evening here. You should keep this option open on the north side :)

I would swap the kitchen and the living room.

No, I find the kitchen there very practical .. right by the terrace door to the garden.

And like ypg, I see the hallway as too narrow. I would move the WC to the left and instead of a closed cloakroom, have a large wardrobe and a small hook rack on the left side of the WC wall.

That way, there is a bit more space in the door area.

Join me in kbt. Swap WC and cloakroom. Makes the whole thing more inviting and brighter. Also, I would mirror the stairway and make the wall between the front door and stairs slanted along the stair rise instead of building it all the way up, otherwise it feels oppressive. I assume you have a basement?

Thank you very much for the tips and the link :)!

- Yes, we are building with a basement.
- We will actually place the WC window on the north side... I also find that better for privacy ;-).
- Is the hallway really too narrow? I thought that the L-shape made it more spacious...
- The kitchen and living room were originally swapped. We deliberately wanted the kitchen in the south so that the path to the terrace is short and the TV corner is in the "darker" north.
- I find the suggestion of the open wardrobe quite interesting. We thought that in a closed wardrobe we could store "messier" shoes/jackets and, for example, vacuum cleaner... But I will think again about the open, airier solution.
- What is meant by mirroring the staircase? So going up on the right side and having only a stair railing and no wall?

Thank you :)
