Normally, you would also want to get daylight through west-facing windows into the house in the afternoon. You block that with a recessed garage. In winter, it can then get quite dark during the day.

That depends on the floor plan, and for the reasons mentioned, I would not pursue it further (meaning both).
Then just try again. As it is, there aren't even windows on the upper floor.
Personally, I would place the garage to the east with a short driveway. Then there is still enough "view" to the east and window possibilities to the west. I would forego a utility room airlock instead of a corridor and the technology belongs inside the thermal envelope. As already said.
Can't the view be obstructed at some point? Show it to us.
