Why should the master bedroom be taken out of the south? We would actually like to have the view here as well.

Because you want to sleep 8 hours, but can't due to the room overheating … which is in contrast to catching a view for 8 seconds.

I was mainly hoping for valuable tips that might make it possible to possibly reduce the floor plan size

I would leave out the basement due to budget. Or does the existing house have a basement?
