I am building with an architect and have quite concrete ideas, but he should challenge them. After all, I only have ideas, he has the experience. For aspects I am not passionate about, I gladly accept his solution. I don't want to study every screw either. He does have some small "artistic" approaches, but when I say no, it means no. Apart from that, it's the small details that make the difference between a catalog cube and an "architect's house," as it is so nicely called at the later sale. You can also take a 130sqm gable roof off the shelf, imho. With someone who overestimates the artistic aspect very much (that sounded like in the example), I would be cautious. If artistic ambition means more than the client's budget, it gets difficult (and it's too late).
