Hello community,
This is about an old house with damp floors in the living area.
The house is from the sixties, is not basemented, and has a concrete slab floor.
The whole issue becomes noticeable through damp spots
in the carpet, which of course also smells accordingly.
Since at the moment there is no money available for a complete renovation of the floor,
I am looking for a solution for the next two years.
What can I do with the floor so that the moisture does not enter the living space? Which floor covering makes sense after treating the floor?
Thank you very much in advance.

But: find and eliminate the cause. Then dry technically. Maybe you don’t need a complete renovation, but only a repaired water pipe.

What could be the cause of the floor slab being damp? And what does drying technically mean? There are no water pipes running under the floor. The water pressure in the heating system is also constant. There is no underfloor heating.

No water pipes run through the side walls. It is most likely moisture that penetrates the base slab during rain.

if it penetrates through the floor slab and is already so wet that the carpet is already damp, I wouldn't want to live in it. mold?
