I had a low score for a while even though I only had one small loan that was paid off normally. I have a good income and no debts. Otherwise, just a checking account, savings account, and credit card, no mobile phone contract or anything else. After the breakup, I wanted to open my own checking account at my main bank, and it was rejected in the first step! I then requested a Schufa report, and it was really bad. The scores were between 60 and 80, I believe. I then called and asked why that was, because except for one no longer existing credit card, there was nothing incorrect on it. The employee said the poor score was due to the many moves and that I apparently now live in an area where many people don’t pay back their debts. That didn’t even have anything directly to do with me. After a personal review by a caseworker, I was fortunately able to get a checking account after all. However, they did not want to set up an overdraft facility for me.
