Hello everyone,

the screed layer left some sand over. Since I have to fill 2 earth pits with sand anyway, one from the fresh water pipe and the other from the electricity/telecommunications line. It is generally known that pipes and cables should be sanded as much as possible.

Now the question: Is this sand suitable for filling earth pits? Frost resistance? etc.?

Regards
Lukas

This is regulated somewhere in DIN 1610 and depends on the pipe size (pipe diameter). I believe (but am not sure) that screed sand is suitable for this. It should have a grain size of 0/8. As long as no components are visible in the sand that could damage the pipes, I would use the sand for that.
